Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance advises on US$120 million JOL financings

Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance has advised a specialist in international transport finance on two separate Japanese Operating Lease (JOL) financings of four Airbus aircraft, with a combined value of US$120 million. The aircraft are on lease to airlines registered in Hungary, Taiwan and Turkey.

In the first deal, which involved two Airbus A330-343 aircraft on lease to a Turkish airline, the firm acted for the senior lenders and the security agent. The leases were arranged by a Tokyo-based leasing company, and junior financing was provided by the seller of the aircraft.

In the second deal, which involved two Airbus A320 family aircraft on lease to a Hungarian and a Taiwanese airline, the firm advised the financing bank and the security agent on a bridge financing to a Japan-based financial services company. The team also recently advised on the subsequent prepayment of the bridge financing.

The Stephenson Harwood team comprised Singapore-based partner Saugata Mukherjee, senior associate Clement Leung and associate Lisa Atkinson. London-based partner Simon Moore and associate Laura Tang advised on certain credit enhancement features.
