Sustainability

Experience

• Advised Air France in relation to a Balthazar-backed sustainability-linked loan from Societe Generale in relation to one Airbus A350-900 aircraft. This was the first-ever sustainability-linked aircraft-secured term loan provided to an airline.
   
• Advising banking clients and airline clients on ESG matters including sustainable finance platforms and green finance regulations and the applicability of the EU ETS regulations.

Advertising queries and investigations

• Advised a major European airline in relation to an advertising campaign highlighting the airline's environmental performance and acting for the airline in a resulting investigation by the UK’s Advertising Standards Agency.
   

eVTOL

• Advised in conjunction with Japanese counsel on the legal framework regulating drone package delivery in Japan, implications of the use of drone for deliveries in Japan, legal aspects that to be wary of in operating flights over Tokyo in particular by unmanned or remote controlled vehicles.
   
• Member of a consortium developing a virtual reality model simulating real time urban air traffic control environments (including wind and weather) in cities such as London, Dubai, Tokyo and Singapore to support the integration of future e-VTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft and UAS (unmanned aircraft systems) capable of transporting passengers and cargo at high speeds (up to 200mph) at low altitudes (up to 1,000ft) in increasingly dense unsegregated airspace.
